Abstract
Design equations are a required tool in the analog designers toolbox. In this paper we show how one can calculate the required parameters for comparator-based switched-capacitor circuits for use in a pipelined ADC. The parameters are capacitance (C), current (Io), comparator delay (Td), current source output resistance (Ro) and comparator threshold (Vct). The design equations are verified with behavioral simulations in SPICE and MATLAB.
