    This paper presents a technical description of the SeaMeWe3 submarine WDM system. This multiple owner system will provide large capacity between 40 countries in SE Asia, the Mediterranean and Western Europe. The system is not only using WDM, but also breaking new ground through the use of submerged wavelength add drop multiplexers (WADMs)
