Abstract :
In this paper, we have applied the transmission-line modeling (TLM) method to analyzing transient responses of grounding electrodes and lightning-induced voltages on an overhead wire. In either analysis, a lossy ground was considered. TLM-computed responses agree reasonably well with the corresponding measured and finite-difference-time-domain-computed responses. This fact shows that the TLM method is effective and useful in analyzing lightning electromagnetic pulses and lightning-associated transient phenomena.
