Abstract :
This paper presents the computer simulation of the cutting process of coal under single blade of coal cutter. The motivation of this study is to investigate the influence of loading angle on the productive efficiency of coal cutter through using a discontinuum based model Distinct Lattice Spring Model (DLSM). Firstly, the basic theory of this method is introduced. As a discrete based method, it is more suitable to simulate fracturing process problems than the conventional continuum based models. Then, the details of DLSM modeling on the cutting process of coal under single blade are described. Finally, the modeling results, crack pattern and damage ratio, are presented and analyzed for different loading angles. It is concluded that the optimized loading angle of the cutter blade is around thirty degrees.
