Abstract
The network in the 21st century is considered as an "all IP" network with both wireless access networks and wire access networks. The value of the network will be based on the services provided to end users rather than the communication capability. The efficient management of the various services is becoming increasingly important for both service providers and service end users. The article presents a three-plane service oriented management architecture, consisting of service control plane, policy driven plane and data transmission plane. The key technologies used in the architecture, such as meta-MIB, policy-based management, intelligent agents, are studied.
