Abstract
Increasing residential and business demand for faster Internet connections has resulted in huge incremental revenue opportunities for broadband access providers. Ethernet is a good technology to provide broadband access service to users. The key problem for Ethernet LAN access is how to support authentication, authorization and accounting features. In this article we design a device, the Ethernet Access Concentrator, which can be deployed without changing current network configuration and easily interoperates with current AAA system. At the same time, Internet users can easily use the EAC to access the Internet without changing any devices or install any software on their PC. We integrate the DHCP, Web server, radius client and packet filtering in this device and construct an emulator to verify our ideal
