  • Abstract
    This paper studies a self-healing algorithm for ATM VP networks. First, a new algorithm based on coordination of two conventional algorithms, called C-TRUS, is introduced and explained in detail. Then the performance of C-TRUS is evaluated via simulations. The simulation results show that C-TRUS has a good survivability behavior and improves the restoration ratio and restoration speed compared to the conventional algorithms. Furthermore, the C-TRUS can also handle multi-failure scenarios and improve the survivability characteristics. Finally, results also indicate that the proposed algorithm finds alternative VP routes more effectively than existing self-healing algorithms
