Abstract
Information technology supporting complex, dynamic and distributed business processes requires the interoperability of workflow management engines with respect to integration, flexibility, and adaptation. We discuss the suitability of mobile agents for the interoperation between workflow servers in heterogeneous, distributed environments, and then present an innovative model of agent enhanced workflow: the scenario where an activity in a workflow process hosted on a workflow management system is implemented by a subprocess hosted on another.
