Abstract
This paper introduces the development of the Japan Gigabit Network (JGN), which is the nationwide high-speed network testbed for R&D in Japan. The aim of this nationwide JGN is to promote R&D on the next generation high-speed network technologies and its application systems. JGN adopted ATM technologies and advanced operation principles such as the sophisticated MoU and UBR-based operation. CRL plays an important role in the R&D activities toward the next generation network technology using JGN. This paper presents the study of the high quality video communication system over the nationwide networks
