Abstract
The paper presents an original approach to the modulation of a current source inverter, conceived in order to achieve fast and precise voltage control. Two control methods are analysed and compared. In the first one, which has been established for CSI, the well-known current space vector modulation is used, while the voltage control is improved by means of synchronous PI dq controllers. The second method, which is proposed in the paper, is based on a novel voltage-controlled modulation of the current. This study focuses on the output stage of the inverter and is conducted by means of off-line and real-time simulations. The paper evidences the very good performances of the voltage controlled modulation and it proves that the new method is computationally lighter than the synchronous frame PI voltage control.
