Abstract :
This paper describes digital transmission characteristics in a multipath environment where the delay time is larger than the symbol duration. The bit error rate (BER) performance is measured by using both a 100 Mb/s4-PSK modem and a multipath fading simulator. Experimental results show that the BER depends on the desirable wave to undesirable wave ratio (D/U), not on the delay time of the interference ray in the multipath environment. This result indicates that D/U is useful for designing high capacity indoor radio systems as well as the rms delay spread. Digital transmission capabilities of 100-400 Mb/s are shown by computer simulations
