Foreword

Technology is driven by system requirements, and systems evolve according to market demand and technology capabilities. Knowing where systems are going is important to all who works on technology. Thus it is fitting that the VLSI-TSA and VLSI-DAT conferences open with a joint plenary session that features the following keynote speeches: “Advances in Computing” by Dr. Ya-Qin Zhang from Microsoft Corporation and “Gaining 10x in power efficiency in the next Decade in Consumer Products” by Dr. Philippe Magarshack from STMicroelectronics.
