Abstract :
The open Operation System (OS), the innovative User Interface (UI) and powerful Integrated Circuits (IC) and chipsets together have totally changed the perception of touch components in smart handheld devices (FIGURE 1). Along with this evolution, the projected capacitive touch panel (FIGURE 2) has been exalted to Apple´s mobile devices. Following the Apple´s wave, other various touch technologies flocked in any occasion. Among these touch technologies, which one will be the mainstream remains the very interesting and important for both enterprise and academy. This special session paper is expected to present an overview of emerging touch technologies as well as focus on some of significant touch technologies.
