Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a novel control scheme to suppress harmonic currents drawn from the nonlinear load and to reduce the line voltage harmonic by using a hybrid series active filter. The hybrid series active filter is becoming more important for taking advantage of both filter schemes to improve power quality. The power rating of active filter is reduced by comparing with pure active filter to suppress the harmonics. The harmonic currents generated by the nonlinear load are blocked by the equivalent resistance of the active filter and flowed into the shunt passive filter. The line voltage imperfection is compensated by using a line voltage compensator to maintain a stable voltage on the load side. The effectiveness of proposed control scheme is verified by the experimental results in a scaled-down laboratory.
