Abstract :
Millimetric radio systems are becoming increasingly more important to communication services. The applications clearly cover fixed radio link services both in the trunk and regional or local networks, for example as backbone and feeder links for cellular radio. However, the use of millimetric bands uncover a need for better understanding of propagation effects and, for example, validation of statistical attenuation prediction methods. This paper presents precipitation attenuation measurements at 40 and 60 GHz taken close to Oslo for the summer periods of 1993 and reflections from snow-covered ground during spring 1994
