Abstract
A simplified version of the cascaded cylinder model for terrain diffraction, suitable for inclusion in a system planning tool, is presented. Another model is presented which predicts the diffraction loss experienced when a propagation path crosses an area covered by buildings. This model requires only limited topographic knowledge about the nature of this area. Finally this `urban model´ is combined with the terrain model to produce an integrated diffraction model. Comparison with measured results are presented to justify the assumptions made in the development of the final solution
