Abstract
Standard form based design is a kind of simple and practical approach for the establishment of industrial controllers. To a kind of general multi-capacity process(MCP) standard form, the non-overshoot theorem of the unit step and the unit ramp responses is proved via the calculation for the system responses under relevant excitations. To improve the empirical formula of the settling time of MCP standard form, the exact analytical relation between time constant and settling time is derived theoretically by means of Taylor´s theorem and gamma cumulative distribution function. Finally, analyses on the dynamic performance of type-I and type-II MCP standard forms have demonstrated the non-overshoot characteristics and the proposed analytical expression of the settling time.
