Abstract
Passive localization is an active research field in signal processing, and great efforts have been made in order to acquire high estimation precision. When the least squares method is applied in this problem, the distance estimation performance can be improved compared with the traditional method. Computer simulations and a lake experiment data processing both indicate that accurate passive localization can be obtained by applying the least squares method
