  • Abstract
Load management can be an important contribution to the electricity grid. Its main usage is improving grid stability (physical optimization) and optimize consumption patterns (financial optimization). In recent years, load management developed towards a more ldquoglobalrdquo scale. Wide area load management tries to translate the experiences of local load management to entire regions. It is Information Technology that enables this. This paper describes the various flavors of load management and names the open points before this idea can be deployed in a larger scale.
