Abstract :
Many real life systems such as satellite communications, magnetic recording channels and physiological processes exhibit nonlinear characteristics. Truncated Volterra expansions such as the second order Volterra filter is a versatile approach for modeling such systems. In this paper, it is shown that the single-input multi-output (SIMO) FIR second Volterra channels can be equalized using the linear combination of channel outputs and input. Further, VLSI realization of the proposed equalizer is implemented using the XILINX VLSI software. The efficiency of the VLSI implementation of the proposed equalizer is illustrated with an example in comparison with the VLSI implementation of RLS adaptive lattice orthogonalization filter
