Abstract :
Developing complex telecommunication systems requires more efficient, understandable, and extendible development approaches. This paper presents telecommunication systems development approach based on meta-model. The meta-model is devised in an object-oriented manner to be a reference model for developing telecommunication systems. A specific telecommunication system can be constructed by instantiating each component of the meta-model. With the meta-model, telecommunication systems can be built with ease and in a consistent way. The approach covers analysis and design phases in the development life cycle. The effectiveness of this approach is illustrated with an example of a video-on-demand service system
