Abstract :
User oriented factors concentrating on power semiconductor cost effectiveness will be discussed. A few of the economic factors involved in the choice of power semiconductors that will be discussed are: current to pellet size ratios, power dissipation, base or gate drive, and reliability. Data on transistors and Darlingtons, SCR´s, and GTO devices in the 10 to 35 amp range and in T03, T048 and T0220 packages will be presented. The measurements referred to in this report were made on pellets with areas of about .04 in2 to .06 in2.
