Abstract
The limited bandwidth and its poor quality presents a significant challenge for wireless multimedia. Fortunately, the flexibility of OFDM modulation offers a number of possibilities to alleviate this problem. We analyse two possibilities and their interaction. In order to assign the available capacity efficiently, the paper considers an arrangement that allows adaptation of the mapping method for each sub-channel. In addition, for hierarchical coding schemes (such as picture coding), the paper considers an adaptive priority assignment to offer more bandwidth for the high priority data when channel conditions permit.
