Abstract
Central management of embedded micro generators such as domestic combined heat and power (CHP) units and photovoltaic roofs has the potential to improve the value of their output. This paper shows how the point to point and cell broadcast short message services developed for mobile phones could be used to carry a set of effective control and data exchange protocols. A method for despatching populations of CHP units, and for determining the available increase in output, is described.
