Abstract :
The present work is concerned with the application of image processing to an off-line DNA autoradiogram images. The varying morphology of lanes, nonuniformity in band shapes, intensities and spacing, the spatially varying background of the image and gel-preparative and digitization variations in the autoradiogram images make conventional techniques of image processing unsuitable. The proposed technique is adaptive taking varying background and unpredictable nature of the bands into account. The authors have successfully accomplished lane detection, lane straightening, adaptive enhancement of lane images and band detection
