Abstract
The authors describe a new dead tank SF6 circuit breaker which can be used as a replacement for bulk oil circuit breakers as well in a new substations. It utilises a modern SF6 single pressure design and a spring mechanism of known reliability. The circuit breaker incorporates slip-over current transformers and has a 40 kA short circuit capability. The circuit breaker is the result of a common development for both the USA and UK
