Abstract :
The paper aims to discuss TD-SCDMA technology commercialization strategy and proposes a conceptual framework for mobile telecommunications technology commercialization process. In the framework, the mobile telecommunications technology commercialization process consists of three stages: (1) idea generation and invention, driven by customers, (2) technology innovation, driven by manufacturers and (3) service innovation, driven by carriers. The paper argues that the TD-SCDMA technology commercialization process is now in the service innovation stage, which began in April of 2008, when the commercial test was launched. The paper also discusses the strategies in the service innovation stage of the TD-SCDMA commercialization process from such perspectives as belief embracing, brand building, application development, investment strategy and the roles of government, etc..
