Abstract :
This paper describes the design and simulation of the output stage of a pulsed welding power supply. The power converter chosen was a series resonant power converter. This allowed high frequency operation of the power switches, reducing the size of the isolation transformer and the current ripple in the load. The paper describes the operation of the series resonant power converter in two modes to achieve pulsed output power control. The two modes maintained zero current switching in the power devices. Details of the circuit are given, together with the model of the circuit in the Saber simulation software. The results of simulation and experimental work are given
