Abstract :
Based on a new polarimetric 3D wave propagation model that describes multipath propagation due to 3D terrain, given by topological and morphological data, the paper presents methods for the determination of the most important parameters that allow an assessment of the coverage and link performance for fixed receiver locations. The multipath signals fieldstrength delay spectrum (FDS) is introduced and it is shown how statistic superposition of its single components can be performed and the probability density function (PDF) for the complex receiver fieldstrength can be derived. Further analysis of these results allows detailed understanding of the channel characteristics and relevant propagation mechanisms. Different kinds of evaluation are possible and are discussed
