Abstract :
A new active filter topology is proposed. It can be used as an energy buffer between the input and output of an AC-AC converter system, e.g. a traction drive. The active filter is connected in parallel to the DC link of the drive. It mainly absorbs the power of twice the line frequency due to the single phase supply. Simulations of a static load case show very good filter performance and the active filter may be an alternative to the passive filter used today
