Abstract
The paper describes the design and development of a high-power, high-voltage AC-AC power electronic converter built using 1200 A IGBT devices. The power converter is supplied from batteries charged by a 380 V three-phase generator and produces a variable-frequency (40-80 Hz) single-phase voltage up to 200 kV. The power converter has been designed for testing the insulation of high-voltage cables
