  • Abstract
The study of a clinically healthy man, 20.5 years of age at start of study, who self-measured systolic (S) and diastolic (D) blood pressure (BP) several times daily for >340 days/year for 21 years is presented. Notwithstanding the lack of data during sleep, a circadian rhythm is demonstrated (P<0.001) during each of the 21 years for both SBP and DBP; the circadian acrophase of DBP consistently leads by several hours that of SBP. A circannual rhythm is demonstrated each year for SBP and in 20 out of 21 years for DBP; a circaseptan rhythm is found for both SBP and DBP during nine out of 21 years, though not necessarily during the same years. Increases in the early 20s in both midline-estimating statistic of rhythm (MESOR) and circadian amplitude are the main features of aging in the subject investigated
