Abstract :
A simple range profile interpolation scheme is proposed for the shooting and bouncing ray (SBR) technique. Common to all ray-based electromagnetic predictors is the fact that the dominant portion of the computation time is in performing the geometrical ray tracing. For applications where multiple-look data of the target are needed, a new set of ray trace has to be carried out for every incident angle, thus compounding the time issue. In this paper, we present an interpolation scheme which allows a set of near-by target signatures, viz. range profiles, to be approximately calculated using the ray-tracing information from only the central angle.
