Abstract
This paper is focused on what may be an impossible task, finding “the generic API system”, where API stands for application program interface. The central premise of this paper is that within certain constraints it is possible to describe an API system which is applicable to a very wide range of object oriented interconnection problems and specifically to a wide range of command and control systems. The solution described is intended to be a practical approach which can be applied by developers using hardware and software from a broad range of vendors. The solution approach has been implemented and tested and the results are discussed
