Abstract
We propose an algorithm to select the location of gateways interconnecting a mobile data network with a fixed data network based on minimizing the average packet delays. The cost function used for optimization consists of three separate terms with different weighting factors on each term, namely, internet packet delay, intranet packet delay in the mobile network and intranet packet delay in the fixed network. The discrete capacity assignment is used to further improve the gateway location solutions. Some numerical examples are given to illustrate the performance of the algorithm
