Abstract
The paper presents stochastic methods as applied to power electronic systems when deterministic approaches bring about particular or inconvenient for use results. Such a problem is the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of convertible power sources and converted power consumers with cycloconverters. The paper suggests that to solve EMC problems, the processes occurring in some power electronic systems are to be assumed to be random. A stochastic method for effective analytical power spectrum description is presented. The efficiency of this method is illustrated for two well known cycloconverter systems. Obtained are output power spectra when source and reference signal variables are fluctuating and are affected by substantial variations
