Abstract
This paper investigates the use of boost and Cuk topologies in unity power factor correction circuits. The topologies include classical switched mode power supply, quasi-resonant zero current switching and extended-period quasi-resonant circuits. They all operate with continuous input current. Control methods are presented. They are duty ratio, switching frequency and constant frequency-extended period. The implications of power factor, harmonic distortion and switching frequency on the topologies are presented in order to compare performance
