Abstract
Nowadays, energy efficiency in manufacturing systems has received more and more attention. Considering real-time pricing, to manage energy consumption in manufacturing systems is a critical problem for decision-makers of heavy energy consumption enterprises. In this paper, we proposed a mathematical programming demand response model with a MIP formulation for electricity management in multistage production systems. In this model, we consider a generic open production line with multiple single-server stages and finite buffers, more than that, not only electricity consumption of machines is taken into account, but also electricity consumption of buffers is involved when they are storing jobs. The optimized scheduling results could offer decision-makers a reference scheduling scheme for energy efficiency. A numerical case study is conducted for demonstrating the potential of energy efficiency in the developed demand response model.
