Abstract
This paper shows how human thoughts and activities can be focused on the development of collective consciousness within a community and transform information based on context into common knowledge. Communities can apply semantic databases in keeping cultural heritage of communities, classification of natural resources, local skills and strengths, daily events, historical facts, tales and legends. The construction of reliable common knowledge through a collective effort allows reinforcement of identity and that future generations could look back in time and understand the intricate network of connections in their own history. Understanding this highly complex information network demands to change the conventional way of analysis, to create improved and balanced organizations and better management of resources, both natural and human, towards sustainability. We show some deployments of semantic networks with some communities in Mexico.
