Abstract
Unbalance of voltage or current may endanger system users. Due to low harmonics and fast response, single phase STATCOM is suitable for compensating unbalanced load. Two kinds of circuit configurations and integrative V-Q control scheme are proposed, which can compensate any kind of un-grounding loads. The 3-Ph compensation current is obtained through vector transform with symmetrical weight method. The single phase reactive power is calculated with single phase instantaneous reactive power concept. Selective harmonics eliminated PWM (SHE-PWM) is employed to ensure that the THD of output current is less than 5% and the DC voltage is controlled. Simulation study of proposed compensation method proves the fast response of single phase STATCOM for balancing the unbalanced load.
