Abstract :
Satellite data from a thermal, an ocean color, and a synthetic aperture radar sensor that were acquired on May 18, 1998, are combined for the interpretation of physical processes in the Rhine outflow region off the Dutch west coast. The authors explain in what way the different types of data can complement each other and enable an improved interpretation of observed signatures, and they discuss how problems with cloud cover, satellite repeat cycles, and coastal conditions affect a synergetic approach to data analysis
