Abstract :
ANTIC 85 is a powerful tool for the design and analysis of electromechanical devices, such as solenoid actuators, fuel injectors, and brushless motors. One of the most important features of this program is its ability to predict the motion of solenoid actuators accurately when they are subjected to time-varying voltage input. A method is proposed of predicting the coil current at every time step of the solution of the field equations for any given input voltage. The initial estimate of coil current at any time step is based on the equivalent circuit derived from the knowledge of field and eddy current distributions in the magnetic circuit. The iterations following this initial estimate are based on the constant flux linkage theorem. The method drastically reduces the computation time and is very effective in solving problems with solenoid actuators connected to power electronic circuits.<>
