Abstract :
A discrete STFT processor for real-time spectrum analysis is proposed. To overcome the drawbacks of previous discrete STFT algorithms and architectures, a new architecture based on FFT array is presented. By exploiting the symmetry of window function, multipliers for window multiplication can reduce to N/2. And the utilization rate of the multiplier in FFT processing unit can be improved by introducing switch arrays. The design has been synthesized using SMIC 0.18mum standard cell library using a Verilog model. After placed and routed, static timing analysis and dynamic simulation with timing back annotated show that under worst-case conditions, 180MHz clock rate can be achieved, which means that the real time spectrum analysis demand can be fulfilled under the same sample rate
