Abstract :
The mobile PNNI scheme for the location management in wireless ATM networks based on the PNNI routing protocol supports the mobility of terminals. However, this scheme is difficult to be directly applied to mobile switches in wireless ATM networks. This paper proposes a new location tracking algorithm to guarantee the mobility of terminals and switches in wireless ATM networks. Mobile switches and mobile terminals under their own coverage are treated as a cluster. A cluster is equal to a mobile terminal in the conventional wireless ATM networks. The proposed algorithm operates as a simple addition to conventional location management schemes in wireless ATM networks changed by mobile switches.
