Abstract :
This paper proposes an optimal searching method of source-based rerouting for a virtual circuit network to realize highly reliable self-healing networks. The topology of the networks is assumed to be arbitrary while providing a pair of disjoint paths between two termination nodes. The high-reliability is accomplished by establishing a pre-established protection path in addition to its working path, and switching to the protection path at the termination nodes as soon as a failure is detected in a network component along the working path.
