Abstract
Satellite systems are becoming deeply involved in the Internet. In this paper, we propose some algorithms for the additional mechanism which must be implemented in one of the network components in case the network uses the CANIT (Congestion Avoidance with Normalised Interval of Time) algorithm instead of the standard congestion avoidance of TCP (transmission control protocol). As we mentioned in former works, the additional mechanism is necessary to inform the TCP sources by the current value of NIT (normalised interval of time) parameter used by CANIT algorithm. This document discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the mechanisms which must be implemented at the gateway level as well as those which must be implemented at the destination level.
