Abstract :
The view proposed here is that it is important to use a kernel properly, i.e., selecting a proper value of scaling factor and positioning a kernel at the right location in the ξ-τ plane. It is also important to obtain a priori information about a time-frequency distribution (TFD) of the signal being analyzed using the Fourier transform (FT) of the signal and taking the results of FT, together with the definition of generalised TFD, for estimating the profile of a TFD in the time-frequency plane
