A 17:1 band coplanar Vivaldi antenna with wide band balun for the low frequencies of the SKA (square kilometre array) is designed, simulated and measured. Looking for best capabilities in the widest possible band, keeping in mind the low cost and weight desired for the application and the requirement for a later activation of the antenna, a close study to the feeding method was developed
