Abstract :
A scheme of image sequence compression coding with hybrid block operations based on the classification of the blocks of the frame differences is presented in the paper. Frame differences are produced by a modified algorithm of motion compensation. Blocks are classified into 4 types, including the all zero blocks, the flat blocks, the midrange blocks and the edge blocks, each of which is quantized and encoded in a different manner. Simulation results show that good picture quality can be obtained using the proposed coding scheme
