  • Abstract
Much of the research in imaging technology has been limited to creating three-dimensional images of static source distributions, by employing one of several common coherent illumination signals. The field of computer vision has been concerned more with dynamic source distributions, but has focused almost exclusively on the use of incoherent illumination in the infrared or visible ranges. The use of an incoherent source signal requires two cameras in a stereo configuration to provide range information, while coherent systems need only measure the complex wavefield with a single receiver array. The imaging technique presented in the present paper provides a means to bridge these two technical fields by providing a method to create dynamic images from aperture-array sensing systems. The imaging systems area will gain applications in medicine, target tracking, and trajectory prediction, and computer vision can benefit from the use of radar, sonar, or other scattering illumination signals
